What does evolving look like?

Evolving is such an open ended word that I think I should first explain exactly what it is. Evolving is intentionally working towards a better you. It takes some deep reflection and requires a commitment to be the best version of yourself. The first thing that is necessary on the journey of evolving is self love. Yes, self love does include the infamous buzz word “self-care” but in more profound ways than many think. Self care is absolutely about indulging in the things you love; however, it also requires you to love who you are. Many people no matter where they are in life often struggle with loving themselves in that moment. Whether they have regrets about what they could have done in the past or they are anxious to get where they are going, it is human nature to not be solely focused on the present. This is especially true for goal oriented people. If you are one of those people, like myself, do me a favor and remind yourself to breathe. To have self love is to simply be.

Additionally, to loving oneself, the journey of evolving requires having the desire to be better than you were yesterday. To love oneself is to be 100% authentic. It is to celebrate all of the things that make you feel great about yourself, while also holding yourself accountable for the things you can improve. It is not blaming your personality traits on your zodiac signs or even past trauma (which is 100% REAL). It is to stand up with your head held high and say “This is who I am and every day I am working to show up as my best self.” This is not an easy process. It may take some time, and even if you get really good at it, situations that you face in life may force you to start all the way over in the process. This is completely normal and perfectly okay. Evolving is a lifestyle that I believe we all owe to ourselves to make a priority.

Friendly Reminder: Evolving is a journey and not a destination. It is not something that you can achieve and never have to work towards again.
